Digital Past 2014

There was a strong showing from the HeritageTogether team at the Digital Past conference in Llandudno, this despite winds gusting at over 100 mph battering the prom., and half of Wales having a power cut!  Inclement weather aside, the conference was an excellent melting pot of digital technology, archaeology, and outreach and we all came away inspired and stimulated.  Some great topics were covered including Laser Scanning, 3D Printing, UAVs, Visualizations & much more – given HeritageTogether covers all these topics is was amazing to meet with so many like minded people.

The HeritageTogether stand was in the main conference area — just over the way from our partners at GAT — so we got lots of interested parties asking about the project, experiencing our digital table top display, which will be a central part of the eventual exhibition, and playing with our laser scanners.  Ben and Andrew ran a free workshop on photogrammetry, which was packed, and from which we got some really supportive feedback and potential collaborations.  All in all a great time, and we can’t thank the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales enough for such an essential and brilliant day!

Diolch yn fawr iawn!
